10 Must-Follow Tips to Prepare for CAT 2016

CAT, Common Admission Test is the most sought after examination. Almost every graduate who aspires to attain a post-graduate degree in management courses refers to this exam because it is the only MBA entrance examination, which is accepted by all Management institutes. Moreover, it is also the only one mode to get admission into the premium institutes of India, IIMs (Indian Institute of Management). CAT 2016 is scheduled to be held on 4th December 2016 by IIIM Bangalore.

1. Know the Syllabus & Pattern

The foremost task of an aspirant is to know what is the examination pattern and syllabus of the CAT. Alongside you have to check the marking schemes and analysis of previous year question paper to get an idea on the high scoring section.

There are three sections-
• Section I:- Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension
• Section II- Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning
• Section III- Quantitative Ability

Every section needs a different strategic approach for preparation. Hence, first know which section needs more time and which one you can prepare in minimum time and then start planning your schedule accordingly.

2. Make a Study Plan

6. Make Notes

Always prepare short notes while studying so that you save time in revising the same. Do not copy the notes for others instead prepare your own notes and use them while solving the questions. It will help you to memorize the topics and formulas in a better way.

7. Practice Hard

Without practicing the concepts and implementing the formulas all study is a waste. It is possible that after few days you will not remember what the actual concept is. Hence, make it mandatory on yourself to practice well after learning the concept.

8. Perfection is the Key

Unless you become a perfectionist, qualifying the CAT Exam will remain a dream. Do consider that just qualifying the CAT Exam is not enough. If you want to get admission in IIMS, you must master the concepts and tricks.

9. Revise as Much You Can

Your preparation may hit a snag if you don’t revise. Hence, never skip revising already prepared topics. Revision will help keep every concept fresh in your mind.

10. Relax Well Before D-Day

Stressing too much can decrease your retaining capability, hence, never forget to stay calm. Relax well. Give yourself ample breaks so that you can refresh your mind and avoid stress. Never start a new topic in the last week before the exam. The last week should be dedicated to the practice and attempting online tests.
