What is Physics?
It is a branch of science which deals with nature and properties of matter and energy. The subject covers all topics of mechanics, heat, light, radiations, sound, electricity, magnetism, and the structure of atoms.
The word Physics is derived from Greek and means’ nature. It defines the world around us. It is one of the oldest sciences. The subject was based on all theories and assumption. Scientific Revolution has converted these theories into practical applications.
A number of scientists have contributed for Physics, the prominent names includes Galileo Galilei, Isaac Newton, Albert Einstein and Richard Feynman. The scientist have contributed for discoveries and advancements in science and technology.
Physicist have defined physics in their own words, the famous physicist Richard Feynman has defined it as
“Science is a way to teach how something gets to be known, what is not known, to what extent things are known (for nothing is known absolutely), how to handle doubt and uncertainty, what the rules of evidence are, how to think about things so that judgments can be made, how to distinguish truth from fraud, and from show.”
Physics as a subject has a number of branches; broadly it can be listed as
• Classical Mechanics
• Thermodynamics
• Electromagnetism
• Relativity
• Integrative Fields
