IS NTSE Really Very Difficult?
This is because over 12,00,000 to 14,00,000 10th graders participate in the Stage-1 exam. A meager 4600-5200 students are selected from this huge set of students to take part in stage-2. Out of these ~5000 students , only around 1000 students become eligible for the award of scholarship. This means that the final selection rate is only ~0.07%, at par with several of the most toughest, competitive exams like the UPSC/AIPMT/JEE. This is why the NTSE scholar tag demands a lot of respect in our society.
Is NTSE Really that Difficult?
No, although NTSE may seem very difficult considering the qualifying percentage, but there are few points to notice which can help you generate confidence of clearing NTSE
- Maximum students who appear for NTSE are unaware of NTSE exam. They just fill NTSE forms because they are asked by the school.
- Very few students actually prepare for NTSE. Others just go on the exam day and write the exam as they have nothing to lose.
- More than 50% syllabus of NTSE is from your school syllabus of IX and X, so if one is thorough in his school syllabus, he has a great chance of clearing NTSE stage 1 by little testing and practice.
- If you analyze few previous year NTSE exams, we come to know that all topics are not that important. You can focus on few very important topics in SAT and still make through NTSE.

How to Crack NTSE in the last 1 month?
National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) conducts the National Talent Search Examination (NTSE), a national level exam, every year to award scholarships. Every year, lakhs of students appear in the examination to avail scholarships. This scholarship examination is conducted in 2 stages, Stage-I is State Level and Stage-II is National Level . Both stages include Mental Ability Test (MAT) and Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). Aspirants need to pass both the examinations in order to avail the scholarship.

- NCERT Books- Start your NTSE preparation with NCERT books of classes IX and X. You can also refer, Class XI Textbooks to check some concepts of classes IX and X. NCERT books contain all the concept and syllabus of NTSE exam. So, start with the basic material rather than indulging in heavy preparation books.
- Prepare for MAT Section– Student’s mental ability will be tested through the MAT section. So, it is a must to give ample time to prepare for the exam.
- Strengthen Your SAT Section – Another section of the examination is SAT, to prepare for the same follow NCERT Books. Alongside, do read good general knowledge books.
- Solve Sample Papers– The only method to track your performance is to attempt sample papers or mock tests. Solve as many sample papers or mock tests to keep checking your progress. It also helps you in speeding up the calculations. Solve online as well as offline sample papers.
- Know your Strengths & Weaknesses– It is a must for all the aspirants to know what are their strong and weak aspects. A proper and accurate preparation strategy can be formed only after that. So, know which areas are the weakest section and provide concentrate more on them while preparing for the exam.
- Improve Weak Sections– Once you know the weak areas, try to improve them by devoting more time. Eg. If your devote 1 hour for each subject then utilize 2 hours for preparing the weak concepts.
- Analyze Your Performance– To avoid mistakes and last minute hassles, you need to analyze how much you are prepared for the exam. After completing the syllabus, do analyze your performance by solving online mock test so that you can avoid silly errors.
- Self-Study – Mere joining preparation classes and solving sample papers wouldn’t ensure your success. You need to work hard and study thoroughly. Self-study is most important in preparing in a better way.

What is NTSE? Syllabus and Pattern of NTSE
Introduction: What is NTSE?
The National Talent Search Examination (NTSE) is the most prestigious scholarship exam at the high school level in India. It is conducted in 2 Stages and is open only to Xth graders. The first stage is conducted in each and every state and union territory (total of 36 regions) and few toppers are selected from the large pool of students to appear for stage-2. Each state has a particular quota for selection based on the population and enrolment ratio of Xth graders.

Class: For Class 10 Students Only
Total Scholarships: 1000
2 Stages
Stage 1: State Level (Conducted around 1st/2nd week of November every year)
NTSE Stage-1 2016-17 will be conducted in Maximum states by 6th November 2016
Stage 2: National Level (Only for students who qualify stage -1 )
NTSE Stage-2 2016-17 will be conducted on May 14th 2017

NCERT has never officially released any syllabus for NTSE exam.
There are 3 Sections in NTSE Exam:
- Mental Ability (MAT)- 50 Questions- 45 minutes
- Language Test ( English/Hindi)- 50 Questions-45 minutes
- Scholastic Ability- 100 Questions- 90 Minutes
- Math – 20 Questions
- S.T- 40 Questions
- Science – 40 Questions

6 life lessons we learnt from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam
“A man is great by deeds, not by birth.”
A great quote from a great thinker and scientist, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, who has served our country as a president from 2002 to 2007. Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen started his career as a scientist. He influenced many lives with his dedication and hard work. People admire him not for what he has given to science, but also due to his unmatchable personality. There are many inspiring traits of this great leader. We have summed up some teachings of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam that we can use to become leaders.
- Be Prepared
What life throws at you is completely uncertain. You never know what’s next. So, always be ready for the best and the worst. He said:
“You see, God helps only people who work hard. That principle is very clear.”
You don’t know what is in the future, but make sure you work hard for it. This can only be achieved if you are always prepared to face the challenges. Good and bad are the two faces of the same coin. Work hard to achieve your best and never let yourself down.
- Leaders Acknowledge Contribution
Leaders take the responsibility of the teamwork. They never put you down for mistakes, instead appreciate your contributions so that you can improve. Leaders are guides, what they see, they reap. Trust your team members and let them flourish so that they can give their best to whatever task they perform. A team makes a leader good or bad. So, acknowledge and appreciate the efforts of your team.
- Go With The Flow
Be flexible so that you won’t get affected by situations. What life teaches us is for our betterment. Dr. Kalam knew the youth were inspired by his vision and words. He always gave more than expected. He touched many lives by sensing situations and taking action without talking about it. Every time, he delivered a lecture, people were motivated to face the world with new enthusiasm. He encouraged them to make a difference, to do what they have planned.
- Keep Fit
He took his last breath while delivering a lecture at IIM Shillong. He died at the age of 83 years and was perfectly fit. Do remember success can only be achieved with a healthy mind and a healthy body. A healthy body helps you to stay focused and to achieve the maximum.
- Have A Vision
“You have to dream before your dreams can come true.”
Life is worthless if you haven’t decided your goal. Dreams can only be accomplished if you have a goal and work to get what you desire. If you have a dream, then visualize it, imagine your future and live it. The only way to get inspired is by imagining your success.
- Connect With People
“Look at the sky. We are not alone. The whole universe is friendly to us and conspires only to give the best to those who dream and work.”
Many times, while running after success, we unknowingly drift away from people who are important to us. We must bear in mind that only unity can help us to grow. If we get connected to people, their life experiences, their thoughts, their personalities and much more can help us progress. It is not necessary to get a solution. You have to face problems sometimes. You can use advice to tackle them. Never enjoy your success alone, it is pointless. Take your friends, family, team members, and advisors along with you.

World Literacy Day- A World Ahead

With no boundaries or limitation, the only thing that can make you a diamond from coal is Education. There is nothing as powerful as education and we should celebrate the day to revise the goals of distributing this power.
Every year, the World Literacy Day is celebrated on September 8. This year, UNESCO is celebrating the 51tst anniversary of International Literacy Day with the quote “Reading the Past, Writing the Future”. This day was is celebrated all around the world to spread awareness about the importance of the literacy to individuals, society, and communities.
UNESCO Director-General Irina Bokova said, “The world has changed since 1966, but our determination to offer every woman and man with the capacities, skills, and opportunities to become everything they wish, in respect and dignity, remains as firm as ever. Literacy is a foundation to build a more sustainable future for all.”
As per the report of the global monitoring, it has been observed that one among every 5 men and two third women are illiterate. Hence, to increase the literacy rate World Literacy Day is celebrated.
Why We Celebrate International Literacy Day-
The main purpose to celebrate the International Literacy Day is to encourage awareness towards literacy so that everyone can know their social and individual rights. As we need food to be live, we need literacy for social and personal development. Considering the immensely increased rate of poverty, uncontrollable population growth, gender inequality, etc. UNESCO has decided to celebrate the day with a goal to remove these problems. Eliminating them not only helps individuals to grow, but also contributes to the overall growth and upliftment of the nation.
Why Literacy is Important-
Literacy is not only the way to get employment however, it encourages to know human rights so that everyone can get what they deserve. Due to illiteracy, many people face humiliation every day. Moreover, they make their own life full of struggles.
