There are 8 papers in CA IPCC new scheme from 2018. 

CA Inter Syllabus

Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) 

An assessment test shall be conducted at the end of the course which the students have to qualify for being able to appear in the Intermediate examination.Students registering for the Intermediate course shall be required to do Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) before the commencement of practical training.Duration – 4 weeks (2 weeks for soft skills and 2 weeks for IT)

Practical Training

Students can enter Articleship Training either on passing any of the Groups or both. The CA IPCC New Syllabus for May 2018 will have Costing for 100 Marks in Group-1 and FM for 100 Marks in Group-2. Paper-7 is for Business Information Systems and Strategic Management, covering 50 Marks each. This is the CA Intermediate Syllabus for May 2018. When compared to old Syllabus, even though FM was brought to 2nd Group, the overall syllabus has remained the same.

Duration -3 Years

Commences after completing Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (ICITSS) and passing Either or Both Groups of Intermediate.

For direct entrants coming through Graduation and Post Graduation route, the practical training commences immediately after they complete four weeks ICITSS

Advance Four Weeks Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS)

Duration – 4 weeks (2 weeks for soft skills and 2 weeks for IT)

Students undergoing Practical training shall be required to do Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology and Soft Skills (AICITSS) during the last 2 years of Practical training but to complete the same before appearing in the Final Examination.

An assessment test shall be conducted at the end of the course which the students have to qualify for being eligible to appear in the Final Examination.

Passing Criteria for CA IPCC New Syllabus for May 2018 Exam

A candidate is required to appear and pass the CA Intermediate Syllabus for May 2018 Exam, group-wise and not paper wise.

Candidate may appear in both the groups simultaneously or in one group in one examination and in the remaining group at any subsequent examination. It will ordinarily be declared to have passed the Examination only when he passes in both the groups.

Student shall ordinarily be declared to have passed in both the groups simultaneously, when –

They secure at one sitting a minimum of 40 marks in each paper of each of the groups and minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of each of the groups; or

They secure at one sitting a minimum of 40 marks in each paper of both the groups and a minimum 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of both the groups taken together.

A candidate shall be declared to have passed in a group if he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 per cent marks in each paper of the group and minimum of 50 per cent marks in the aggregate of all the papers of that group.

Thus, it may be noticed that passing requirements of the Chartered Accountancy Examinations are Group-wise and not paper-wise as may be the case in other examinations. Please remember this for CA IPCC New Syllabus for May 2018 and for CA Intermediate Syllabus for May 2018.

Exemption Rules in a Paper of IPCC

Student who appears in all the papers of a Group. If they fail in that Group but secures a minimum of 60 percent marks in any one or more papers of that Group. This is exempted from appearing in the that paper for the next following three examinations. He will be eligible to appear in any of the following three examinations in the papers in which he secured less than 60 percent marks and shall be declared to have passed in that group if he secures at one sitting a minimum of 40 percent marks in each of such papers and a minimum of 50 percent of the total marks of all the papers of that group including the paper or papers in which he had secured a minimum of 60 percent marks in the earlier examination referred to above.

The marks obtained by him in the paper (which he is granted exemption). It will be carried forward automatically for the next three examinations. Further. He will not be granted any exemption in any other paper of the same Group. Even though he may secure a minimum of 60 per cent marks in a paper. He may secure as long as the exemption granted to him earlier in any of the papers of that Group is valid.
