The MAH MBA CET till 2016, followed certain standard characteristics which will see a change this year. But there are certain aspects of the exam which will remain unchanged. A brief of the various important factors of the exam can be listed as follows:

• 4 Sections: The MAH MBA CET paper didn’t have sections. You would find math, verbal and reasoning questions all mixed-up in one long paper of 200 questions! So, the question of sectional cut-off scores didn’t arise. You could maximize your score in your strong areas and not bother about the weak ones. But the presence of sections this year is the one feature which will distinguish the CET 2016 from CETs of previous years, as it promises to make the test more organized, to aid the candidates. There will be no sectional time-limits though. However, will there be sectional cut-off? No one knows!
• No Negative marking: The CET does not penalize you for getting an answer wrong. So rather than leaving a question that you cannot solve, it is better to mark some option and move ahead. In CET, it used to be considered a crime to not mark all 200 responses. This aspect remains the same in 2016.
• No GD-PI: Unlike other MBA entrance exams in which you get short-listed for the GD-PI, in CET (till 2012) it was compulsory for every candidate who takes the written test to undergo the GD-PI rounds. Also, marks were allotted for GD and PI (17 marks each) in CET. As this is negligible compared to the overall marks (240), very few students were able to make a difference to their overall ranks in this round. In 2014, the GD-PI round was omitted entirely, which enabled students to gain admission into colleges only on the basis of their CET score.
• Number of options: The MBA CET till 2014 had 5 possible answers to any multiple choice question asked. In 2015, this was changed to 4 possible options for every question.
• Centralized Admissions: In CET, the admission – process is conducted online and is based on your Rank in the multiple choice examination consisting 200 questions (depending overall score out of 240, previously). This process is called the ‘Centralized Allotment Process’ (CAP). Usually the admissions go on for 3 to 4 CAP rounds before all the seats are filled. The CAP rounds for CET 2016 will not see any change, neither in process, or in the number of participating institutions.

But CET remains a speed based test (and not accuracy based like other exams). Hence all the efforts of the candidates must be concentrated at increasing their attempts (of course, with an eye on the accuracy!).

The most common questions of students that need to be answered are:

1. If you are prepared for CAT and the CMAT, are you prepared for CET?

Yes and No. Yes, because you should be able to sail through the Quantitative and Verbal questions in the CET. No, because you still need to acquaint yourself with the new Logic questions and mentally prepare yourself for a speed based test that the CET is.

2. Where do students lose out in the CET?

The fact that it is very easy! The scores in CET are usually very high, making it a test of speed over everything else. You will find that there are many students at a given score making it very competitive. Hence you need to work on specific areas like Visual Reasoning and Syllogisms where others do not score.
