JEE Advanced 2017 is the premium engineering entrance examination conducts by IITs, every year. Lakhs of students appear in the examination to get admission in all the finest engineering colleges, Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) and ISM. For 2017, the examination dates and conducting authority has been announced. JEE Advanced 2017 will be conducted on 21 May 2017 by IIT Madras under the aegis of seven Zonal IITs. Although, the overall application and examination process will remain the same, some important changes have been introduced in the reservation, a number of appearing candidates, eligibility criteria and more. What’s new in JEE Advanced 2017
Number of Appearing Candidates-
Previously, only 2,00,000 JEE Main qualifiers are allowed to appear in the JEE Advanced Exam, However, due to the latest announcement, an additional no. of 20,000 candidates will be able to appear in JEE Advanced 2017.
OBC- NCL Certificate
According to the eligibility of JEE Advanced 2017, the OBC candidates who were eligible to appear in JEE Advanced have to issue a valid certificate to be issued on or after 01 June of the year.
However, according to the new guidelines, to apply for JEE Advanced, the OBC-NCL Certificate will be issued by Ministry of Personnel, Public grievances and Pensions on or after 01 April 2017.
Relaxation in Cut off for Class XII Aggregate Marks
New amendments have also brought a good news for the candidates belonging to SC and ST categories as the authority has declared to reduce the cut off for the aggregate marks in class XII by 5%.
Previously, the minimum cut off marks was 70%, however, from 2017, the cut off marks will be deemed 65%.
Introduction of New features
The latest JEE Advanced 2017 Notification has revealed that in the coming application and examination procedure, a few new features will be introduced to make the process more user-friendly. Candidates will encounter new features in fee payment, registration, result announcement, choice filling etc.
Short video tutorial and SMS service will be hosted to assist the candidates while applying for JEE Advanced 2017 Exam.
Opportunity for foreign candidates
From 2017, the candidates from Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Ethiopia, Singapore, the UAE, and Afghanistan will be allowed to appear directly for JEE Advance 2017.
The foreign candidates will not occupy the seats meant for Indians. Instead, they will be provided seats under the supernumerary category.

- JEE Advanced Exam is the second level of Joint Entrance Examination which is conducted to get admission in into undergraduate courses in Engineering, Architecture, Science, or Pharmaceutics offered by premium engineering colleges including IITs and ISM.
- Only top 2 lakh 20 thousand JEE Main qualifiers will be allowed to appear in JEE Advanced 2017.
