Welcome to the Introductory Module of Grammar 1.
Success in the Verbal part of CAT depends strongly on one’s grasp of English Grammar. While it can
take a long time to get a good grasp of English Grammar, there is no point in going through a whole
lot of elaborate Grammar books. For the CAT, it is sufficient to have a good understanding of a few
basic rules and principles of English Grammar, the parts of Speech, their expressions in a sentence
and their acceptable variations and knowledge of common errors.
Grammar based questions appear in different forms in the CAT. Mostly, the questions test one’s
understanding of the standard usage. Typically, a Grammar based question may ask one to identify
an error in a given sentence, identify the correct or erroneous sentences in a given set of sentences,
or replace an underlined part with a correct one, and so on. The common
